Lecturer (m/f/d) in Accounting – Master's programme (freelance)

Starting in the winter semester from 5 October 2026.

Module concept:

Students develop a comprehensive understanding of financial reporting, international finance management and company valuation, and learn to interpret financial statements under IFRS. The module equips students with the knowledge and the skills required to make strategic financial decisions in both corporate and investment contexts.

Teaching contents may include:

• Conceptual and legal framework of German and European accounting standards
• Financial statement presentation and financial statement interpretation under IFRS
• Fundamentals of managerial accounting, including cost behaviour measurement, cost-volume-profit relationships and budgeting systems for organisations, based on real-world examples
• Financial diagnosis, including financial ratios (EVA, WACC, EBITDA, etc...), data analytics for business valuation and financial markets

Teaching methods:

• Seminars, practical workshops, tutored collaborative work and case analysis
• Learning activities create opportunities for knowledge acquisition, critical analysis and the application of managerial and cost accounting principles in both public and private sector business operations
• The language of instruction is English

• A completed university degree in business administration, economics, finance or a comparable field, ideally with a focus on accounting, controlling, auditing or corporate finance
• Sound practical experience in financial reporting, managerial accounting, valuation or financial analysis
• Ideally initial teaching experience at a university or other educational institution
• Enthusiasm for working with an international, culturally diverse student body
• Business-fluent English
