The European Language Certificates telc belong to an internationally recognised system of European language examinations and are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), which applies to all European languages and is also used beyond Europe.

The German as a foreign language department of the SDI conducts all telc examinations under licence from telc gGmbH.

The SDI is an examination centre recognised by the TestDaF-Institut language testing institute. The centralised TestDaF exam is offered six times a year.
