The programme content takes into account the latest developments in the translation market. This includes the use of tools for machine-assisted translation and especially machine translation. For freelancers, this leads to completely new challenges in the areas of pre-editing and post-editing and quality management. But the importance of legal and economic aspects is also increasing. Online teaching in combination with self-study units enables you to pursue a Master’s degree alongside freelance work. The degree programme is primarily designed as a self-study programme, giving you the flexibility you need to work at the same time. The regular online teaching units on 3 days a week with a maximum of 3 hours each will secure your knowledge and offer direct exchange with the lecturers.

All you need for your application is a certificate or other proof that you have completed a Bachelor’s degree programme or are about to complete one – ideally in a language or in combination with a language. Experience in the field of translation is beneficial given the high level of self-study units. The Master’s degree programme in Post-Editing & Quality Management is non-consecutive in terms of content.

Generally, the following language skills are required for this degree programme:

The Master's degree programme in Post-Editing & Quality Management is aimed at freelancers who already have experience in the field of translation. The self-study units require a good basis in translation experience to ensure learning success. If you also want to expand your range of services to include pre-editing and post-editing and are interested in using modern language technology, this degree programme could be the one for you!

The degree programme is designed in such a way that you acquire your knowledge primarily through self-study in combination with online teaching units to secure your knowledge. In addition, the teaching units only take place 3 days a week and comprise two to a maximum of four semester hours per day. Freelance work on the side is therefore easily possible.

In addition to a PC/laptop, you will need a stable internet connection, headphones and a microphone (preferably a headset) and an up-to-date operating system. For ideal learning success, we do not recommend using only a (smart)phone.
