Bachelor’s in Intercultural Interaction Design

Would you like to learn how to create engaging and user-friendly apps and services? In the Bachelor’s degree programme Intercultural Interaction Design, you immerse yourself in the world of user experience (UX) and learn to plan and design user experience holistically in close cooperation with researchers and designers. As an interaction designer, you ensure an efficient and functional flow of modern digital interaction, building on the work of information architects. You also focus specifically on the needs of users in an intercultural context.
Over the course of this 7-semester degree programme, you acquire knowledge in human-centred design and user experience (UX) and the basics of intercultural communication. You will combine the knowledge you have acquired with skills in the field of user research and project management, and will improve your skills in a practical training semester and through projects in an intercultural context.
This degree programme will be launched in the winter semester 2023/24.

Successfully completing the Bachelor's degree programme means you are qualified to start a career in the field of interaction design. As a graduate, you will be an expert in user experience and usability, but will also have competence in the intercultural aspects of communication in interactive systems. The degree programme prepares you perfectly for jobs in intercultural interaction design and in the design of human-system interaction with special consideration of cultural aspects.
Graduates of the Intercultural Interaction Design degree programme work as interaction designers, localisation experts, UX architects, UX specialists, etc.
After graduating, you can also start a Master’s degree programme in the field(s) of business & economics and/or communication, such as the Master's degree programme in Intercultural Communication or as Digital Media Manager at the International University SDI München.

Generally, the following language skills are required for this degree programme:
- German or English: B2 competence level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
Degree programmes at the International University SDI München are designed as a 3-day university. You will attend seminars and lectures three days a week and have two days off to work either at the SDI as a student assistant or at a company.
You can also apply for a scholarship. Our Funding Assistant can help you with that. If you have any further questions on the topic of financing, please contact our Student Advisory Service.
Since degree programmes are designed as a 3-day university, you are free to work on two days a week (in addition to the periods with no lectures). You will also acquire some of the programme content yourself, of course with the support of digital tools and media. This makes it easy to combine studying and working.
Our lecturers will help you find internships, jobs as working students and Master’s theses with practical relevance. Since the lecturers and the university have a wide network of contacts, current requirements of the job market are continuously incorporated into the programme content.
