I am primarily interested in contemporary Chinese-language (Sinophone) literature produced outside the People's Republic of China. I am concerned with questions such as

• How do the writers' works relate to the Chinese literary canon?
• How do the authors express their multiculturalism or transculturality?
• To what extent is writing a means for the authors to “explore” their own identity or to “create” themselves (“self-narration”)?

I am also concerned with the question of how Sinophone literature can be translated and made accessible to a wider audience. I am primarily interested in translating topolect and creole languages.
