Recognition & Accreditation of the University of Applied Languages

Official Recognition 2006

The University of Applied Languages was officially recognised and approved as a non-state University of Applied Sciences by the Bavarian State Ministry of Education, Science and the Arts in its communication XI/5-H6470-11/40 375 dated 13.12.2006.

The univeristy is an equivalent educational institution according to the German Federal Law on Training and Education Promotion (BAföG) and offers solely degree programmes that can be supported by BAföG.

The academic degrees awarded by the University, Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Master of Arts (M.A.), are internationally recognised and entitle the holder to pursue higher studies, such as Master and PhD programmes. The degree Master of Arts (M.A.) allows entrance into the highest level of civil service in Germany.

The University of Applied Languages does not receive any state subsidies. It is funded exclusively by tuition fees and funds from third parties.

Teaching and research at the University is carried out in accordance with recognised standards

The University of Applied Languages successfully completed the process for institutional accreditation in 2013 and institutional reaccreditation in 2016. In these independent quality tests, the German Council of Science and Humanities, one of the most important higher education and research advisory bodies in Germany, confirmed that the University’s teaching and research are in accordance with recognised standards.

The quality of the University’s degree programmes is confirmed once again

All the University’s degree programmes including the Bachelor of Translation (External Exam) were accredited in 2007 for the first time by ACQUIN, the Accreditation, Certification and Quality Assurance Institute. In 2013, ACQUIN once again approved the University’s application for re-accreditation, a confirmation that the courses of study and the University’s structured are in accordance with recognised standards. The degree programmes were accredited for a period of seven years, until 2020.
